Keith Tyson describes his art as a form of experimentation, comparing his studio to a laboratory and his art works to a series of research projects. He has produced an extraordinary array of objects, machines, drawings, paintings and immaterial works, such as a series of twelve magically activated spells. In 1997, Tyson began his Studio Wall Drawings, an ongoing series of works on paper that he describes as existing 'in a space somewhere between a map, a poem, a diary and a painting.'
A major solo exhibition by Keith Tyson, Cloud Choreography and other Emergent Systems, will be at Parasol Unit, 16 September - 11 November 2009. For more information please visit www.parasol-unit.org |
"The outside world is a complete construct of my inner mind. My mind, the place where I sit, is on a frontier; a portal between an inner and outer world. The external world passes through this portal via the artwork. The internal world does the same. Walking in My Mind is the act of endlessly crossing this frontier." |
